Route Description for the MATSA100Miler

The MATSA 100 Miler is an endurance mountain bike cycling race that covers a distance of 162 kilometers between Kimberley and Bloemfontein, through the rugged terrain of the Free State and Northern Cape provinces of South Africa. The route includes district roads and a few hills, making it a challenging but not a technical ride for cyclists of all levels.
The race starts with a flat section, allowing riders to warm up and find their pace. From there, riders make their way over the Modderiver, encountering a long "drag" towards Petrusburg, followed a long “drag”to Bloemfontein that will test your endurance and separate riders from each other.
Despite the challenges of the terrain, the MATSA 100 Miler is a well-organized event with 7 support stations and volunteers along the route to assist riders with hydration, nutrition, and other needs. Riders are also responsible for carrying their own supplies, but aid stations provide provisions to help you refuel and stay energized.
The race finishes in Bloemfontein, where riders can celebrate their accomplishment and enjoy the sense of camaraderie that comes from completing a challenging endurance event. The MATSA 100 Miler is a great opportunity for cyclists to test their limits, challenge themselves, and experience the beauty and ruggedness of the South African landscape. Whether you are an experienced endurance rider or a newcomer to the sport, the MATSA 100 Miler is a race that will leave you with a sense of accomplishment and pride that will last a lifetime.
